Third-party damages happen for a wide range of reasons. The PRG Outside Plant Damage investigation and recovery program covers them all.
A tractor-trailer transporting a backhoe passed under a railroad bridge. The arm of the backhoe scraped the underneath of the bridge without stopping. About a quarter of a mile away from the bridge, the tractor-trailer subsequently hit aerial lines and again did not stop. PRG coordinated with both local police agencies and the highway patrol to compile information about the damage. The driver and damaging equipment were identified at the local construction site.
